The National Lifeguard Training Centre

The National Lifeguard Training Centre is the premier venue for first aid and emergency rescue training in the South West. This unique educational facility is sandwiched between high cliffs and the sea at Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay. As part of Cornwall College, the National Lifeguard Training Centre provides a range of vocational courses which utilise this idyllic environment to teach new skills.

Beach Lifeguard

It’s only natural that Beach Lifeguard training should form a core element of the educational programmes at centre. There is a rich surf lifesaving heritage in this part of Cornwall and Lusty Glaze beach was the perfect choice as a base for the country’s first dedicated lifeguard training centre.

The centre is staffed by emergency rescue professionals, including senior lifeguards, paramedics, coastguards and lifesaving champions. The centre is highly respected and is affiliated to the Royal Life Saving Society, West Country Ambulance Services, HM Coastguards, British Surfing Association and the Adventure Activities Licensing Asssociation.
