Assistant Beach Lifeguard
This Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) award is designed to develop core competencies to enable the candidate to assist or support a Beach Lifeguard (this is NOT a lifeguard qualification).
The course is aimed at people who enjoy the beach or sea for leisure and want to learn water safety skills, want to assist a qualified Beach Lifeguard or take their first step towards a career as a lifeguard.
The course consistsof open water rescue practices, resuscitation and first aid, and sessions covering physical fitness, self discipline, safety supervision and teamwork. A reasonable level of fitness is required to undertake the practical sessions.
The 4-day course takes place at The Training Centre at Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay, Cornwall. Dates for 2009 are: 27-31 July and 10-14 August. This course requires a minimum of six people to run. Cost: £195 per person.
